The Convergence of Two Worlds: From Sunnmøre to Hokkaido

A shape forged by the raw Norwegian coast, destined for the deepest snow on earth

There is a distinct feeling when you drop into the unknown. It is the moment where design ceases to be just technical specifications and becomes pure sensation.
The MT 1180 / Hokkaido was born from this exact transition. We shaped it right here in our local backyard on the rugged coast of Sunnmøre, Norway, drawing lines inspired by our steep, uncompromising fjords—but with the endless, bottomless powder fields of Japan echoing in our minds. Through a close exchange with Mojane store owner Shota Morohashi and Fjell^ shaper and co owner Kjetil Bjørge, this shape evolved into a board that delivers great satisfaction and highly creative riding. The result is a highly refined 150 cm multi-instrument that bridges the gap between Alpine power and fluid, effortless flow.
Stepping onto the board, the first thing you notice is how naturally it carries your weight. As you acceleration into the deep, the wide, early-rise nose lifts instantly, creating a weightless sensation that feels closer to flying than snowboarding. When you initiate a turn through silent birch forests or open bowls, the short, tapered moon-tail sinks seamlessly, letting you snap into quick, intuitive carves with absolute control. It responds to your smallest movements, transforming gravity into creative momentum.
But the true magic of the MT 1180 lies in its dual nature. On days when you crave stability and surgical precision, you ride it strapped into your bindings, holding a powerful, clean edge. On days when the snow feels truly infinite, you can strip the bindings away, drop the EVA surf pad, and experience the mountain completely unburdened—a pure, unrestricted surf session on frozen water.
It is one shape, engineered in the north, built to handle the ultimate winter dream. Whether you are carving local peaks or chasing the deepest storm cycles of the season, the MT 1180 redefines how you read the mountain.
